It’s official, you can now discover the brand-new Guitar Pro 7 for Windows and Mac!
Dear users, our team is happy to announce the release of a seventh version of Guitar Pro.
Many of you have submitted your ideas for improvements and we thank you. We hope you’ll enjoy this new version, the result of several years of coding and coffee, looking to meet our users’ expectations.
The software’s user-friendliness has been entirely redesigned and modernized to support creativity and make audio fine-tuning ever easier. The program is now smoother, faster, and compatible with high-resolution screens.
The standard music notation has been improved and we also focused on guitarists who do not master conventional music notation by offering them the ability to edit and play all the instrumental tracks in guitar tablature, thus making reading and writing music easier.
The best gets better!
- New Interface with main features accessible via a Toolbar, and right-hand inspector window listing the properties of the song and track.
- Tablature for all tracks – In addition to guitars and other fretted instruments, standard notation gets automatically transposed into tablature — this on all tracks, including piano, voice or drums.
- Simplified RSE-track set-up – now by directly selecting a sound preset made of a soundbank and an effect chain.
- Connect your guitar to Guitar Pro – Plug your guitar in and play through the effect chains of the active track (requires an audio acquisition card).
- New audio-export formats – MP3, FLAC and Ogg.
- New musical notation elements – Notation now includes golpe, pick scrape, and dead slap. The writing of bends in standard notation has been enhanced, and we have improved the management of conflicts between the various elements of the score.
- Software performance improved – Software startup and file loading have been enhanced. Scrolling and zooming are now both smoother. The install/update process is also improved.
- Polyphonic tuner – Simply brush down the six strings together to check their tuning in a single stroke.
- Imports and exports improved with a particular focus on MIDI and MuiscXML.

im here to put my 2 cents…
i have somewhere 2 licenses of GP6… why? i got GP6 as a gift… i got pretty cracked up with all the stuff that it had with it… installed on my Linux Machine and it didnt work properly… indeed i bought than the Windows verison and installed it over wine…
afterwards i realized that for the huge amount of things i love to listen to… specially with classical stuff…. there is nothing that version could read properly when the notes where above the fret 24… everything went to 0… so i use Tuxguitar for that kind of things…
so guys… i came here to find out if these guys of had a version for Linux to buy it…. is not the case… then i do not buy anything i dont need…
how i see things….
“WE” the linux users buy more stuff percentualy than the Windows Users… maybe not as the Apple Ladies but we normally pay for our stuff… they dont want our money? no problem… we can find other ways… and without them

No linux support, no buy

I have Guitar Pro V6 for Linux. I want to add my name to those that are disappointed that there is no Linux support for V7. I would have upgraded. I hope that Linux support it will be added again in the future.

I’m really sorry but a Linux version for GP7 is not planned for the moment.
Craih - oct. 16, 2017
Tired of hearing the Linux complaints…who uses Linux anymore, other than in an Engineering or software development….buy a cheap Windows laptop
Andy - sept. 10, 2017
So I just upgraded to GP7 and I like it a lot, but now that I see there is no Linux version planned I’d like a refund. It’s bad enough that you only have a 32 bit version, but not supporting Linux in 2017 is just plain retarded – especially when you did so with GP6 – and your comments about “quantity over quality” actually pissed me off.

After a crash of Guitar Pro 7 – it crashed in the moment I did an undo – I had a look into the taskmanager of windows 7 (home, 64 bit, german version).
I noticed that there were multiple entries of GuitarPro7.exe processes. After I ended them all by hand, I started Guitar Pro one more time, played a short time, saved my project and closed the program. But it looks like the process did not really terminate, because it still remains in the list. Starting and ending Guitar Pro a few times adds multiple processes to the list, without removing the closed process. Is this maybe a bug? I suspect the used recources should be released at the end of the program…

A little while ago I decided on purchasing GP but thought of waiting until version 7 was released. Linux support is essential for all the tools that I use. Sadly, since Linux support has been dropped in GP7, I have changed my mind and won’t be purchasing GP anymore. I hope you reconsider adding Linux support in the future.
With years gone by of making Linux more accessible to the wider audience and many companies moving towards adding Linux support to their products it’s a shame to see this backward thinking on behalf of the GP dev team.

Hello, I am really sorry if you miss the Linux version. For the moment, our team is focus on the Windows and macOS version and I don’t think that we will do a Linux version for Guitar Pro 7 sorry. We focus on quality rather than quantity. With only 2 operating systems to support we can provide free updates on the software every month and give the best to our users.
Joseph Ryan - juil. 5, 2017
You offer me a promotion with no Linux support? I won’t be buying this product until it is supported by Linux. And hopefully you will reoffer the promotion when a Linux version is released. Otherwise I will continue to stick to Guitar Pro 6.

What is this? I get a promotion in my mailbox, inviting me to upgrade my Guitar Pro 6 to a product that doesn’t exist? That is bad promotion. Please, don’t send me any information anymore until you develop a decent Linux version of your product. Until then, it is bye bye GP6 and Arobas for me. I refuse to support a company that doesn’t show love to the open source community.
Steve M - juin 25, 2017
No linux, no upgrade. 🙁
Sami - juin 23, 2017
Shame there isn’t a Linux version, won’t be upgrading from Guitar Pro 6.
pok - juin 10, 2017
I will have to stick with version 6 because of linux support 🙁
linda - juin 12, 2017
Sorry for that.
Thomas - juin 7, 2017
Are you going to add Linux support?

I just upgraded from guitar pro 6 to 7 (windows 10) because gp6 just stoppped working on my pc –
I would like to suggest adding fine control of the master volume slider implemented on the mouse wheel –
currently you have to click on the current slider position, hold down the mouse button, and the move the
mouse to change the volume – this makes it hard to rapidly and conveniently change the volume –
I have been a (very) satisfied of user of guitar pro for many years now but a little upset w/ gp7 –
when is next release (> 7.0.2) scheduled?
linda - juin 12, 2017
Thank you for your feedback. We just release the 7.0.3.
Bill Furner - mai 29, 2017
Does guitar pro 7 make it easier to write guitar tabs doing fingerstyle guitar on a triple play by fishman? That is spontaneously!
linda - juin 12, 2017
We don’t have the triple play by fishman sorry. Please try the demo with it and let us know if it is working.
Angelo - mai 17, 2017
Hi, I have the same issue of Darryl’s.
I have only one USB audio interface and, unless I disable it as sound interface through window sound settings, or I unplug it, or I open another software that uses it (AMP simulators, or even Youtube!!), GP7 won’t start. It appears in my processes in windows task manager, but nothing more. I already tried to unistall it multiple times, and I’ve reinstalled all of the drivers of my Audio device. If I manage to open it that way it shows “Audio Device not available”. Midi works if I manage to open it and change the Midi Output as Microsoft GS WaveTable Synth
All of my other softwares work fine.

Johan - avril 27, 2017
Is this version also Fretlight ready ?
linda - avril 28, 2017
Yes Johan, you can use the Fretlight guitar. To do so, go to the Guitar Pro 7 Preferences… > Interface > Toolbar > Show Fretlight button. The Fretlight button will appear on the top right of the software.
For the moment, Guitar Pro 7 is not compatible with the Wireless Fretlight guitars.
Darryl - avril 25, 2017
I have multiple sound devices on my PC and I’m finding that I can only use a sound device in GP7 if it is NOT set as the Default sound device in Windows. All other software on my PC works fine with all of my audio interfaces so I know there are no driver issues.
Please see below Instructions to reproduce this. The sound device I want to use is a “Line 6 Helix” audio interface which is normally my default interface in Windows but in the example below I change the default device to be the PC Speakers just so I cant prove my sound interface works.
1) Open Windows Sound Settings. Configure PC Speakers as the default sound interface.
2) Open GP 7
3) In GP 7 Configure sound interface to be the “Line 6 Helix” audio interface. Sound is now working.
4) Restart GP7 and check sound is still working.
5) Shutdown GP7
6) In Windows Sound Settings set “Line 6 Helix” as the Default Sound Interface.
7) Start GP 7.
8) GP7 shows error “Audio device not available”. RSE playback no longer works but MIDI does.
linda - avril 26, 2017
Hello Daryl, I forwarded your problem to our technical team. Thank you.
Patrick - avril 25, 2017
